The white Queen of the Rhône Valley. We have a long-lasting love affair with these majestic and well ageing whites from the Rhône, so we want to create a new home for this exciting white variety with its lush tropical fruit and great backbone.
Viognier has the potential to produce full-bodied wines with a lush, soft character and a vast array of aromatics that include notes of peach, pears, violets and often a great reflection of its terroir with marked mineral notes.
The potential quality of Viognier is also highly dependent on viticultural practices and climate, and the grapes require a long, warm growing season in order to fully ripen. But not a climate that’s so hot that the grapes develop too much sugar and potential alcohol before their aromatic notes can develop. So, here we really have to watch the balance between the two kinds of ripeness and work a lot with the canopy to ensure optimal shade and balance.
