We all need a bit of spice in life. Our Syrah adds just that to our blends with its liquorice and earthy notes plus deep dark polished fruit and great backbone.
Syrah is found in many wine-growing regions around the world, but it’s believed to originate from France. It's the offspring of two very little known obscure varieties called Dureza and Mondeuse Blanche.
Often, it's used in blends and also shines on its own in the great wines from Northern Rhône, France and Barossa Valley, Australia.
Wines made from Syrah are often powerfully flavoured and full-bodied. The variety produces wines with a wide range of flavour notes, depending on the climate and soils where it’s grown, as well as other viticultural practices chosen. Aroma characters can range from violets to berries (usually dark as opposed to red), chocolate, and black pepper. There’s not a typical aroma though blackberry, coffee, liquorice and pepper are often noticed. With time in the bottle these primary notes are moderated and then supplemented with earthy or savoury tertiary notes such as leather and truffle.
Sounds yummy right? Well, that's why we planted it.
